Intermedia Arts
Intermedia Arts is Minnesota's premiere multicultural,
multidisciplinary arts center Rooted in Community. Intermedia
Arts began in 1973 as a group of student media activists, University
Community Video. Intermedia Arts belongs to the community it
serves and believe whole-heartedly in creative leadership development.
Our programs grow organically from the issues facing our neighbors,
friends and community members. Intermedia Arts is local and
global. We are youth and elders. We are cutting-edge and deeply
rooted in tradition. We are provocative and fun. We are us
and them.
Letters for Peace
Letters for Peace focuses on students and
bridges the cultural divide that the U.S. war and occupation
of Iraq have created. The project opens channels of communication
between young people of Iraq and young people of America, creates
an atmosphere of trust, respect and understanding, and helps
them discover that what they have in common is greater than
what separates them. Students exchange letters about their
lives and their feelings about war and occupation. Students
who have participated in the program have had their hearts
opened and their lives enriched.
You can participate by obtaining copies of the Letters for
Peace to share with classrooms, places of worship and youth
groups (Hard copies and CDs are available), and asking educators,
parents, students and youth groups to participate in Letters
for Peace by encouraging children to write to a child in Iraq.

for Peace online. For more information click

Women Against Military Madness
WAMM is hundreds of women and
men empowered to make social change through volunteer activism!
WAMM is a nonviolent feminist organization that works in solidarity
with others to create a system of social equality, self-determination
and justice through education and empowerment of women. WAMM's
purpose is to dismantle systems of militarism and global oppression.
Since September 11, 2001, WAMM has been focused on opposing
the war on terrorism in all its forms, including attacks on
the civil liberties of immigrants and activists. A new committee
has formed to expose the danger of depleted uranium munitions,
and we expanded WAMM staff hours to allow us to do a larger
amount of program work.
